I've just bought a new range (or received an update) and theres no style in the case, what gives?
Version 2 of the ranges has the ability to rezz the style for you once the base is placed in the appropriate location, so a seperate style is not included in the box.
To rez the style, rez the base unit with the targets or take the base offline, click a controller and select Rez from the blue popup admin menu.
How can I get a copy of the style for my range to modify?
Rezz your range base, then select "Rez Style" from the Admin menu (see instructions). You can then take a copy of the style and modify it as you like.
I've broken my style, can I get another?
Yes, simply select "Rez Style" from your base unit.
Your vendors say the style is modifiable, but its flagged no-modify in my inventory, why?
Some styles include scripts to set up particle effects and/or to implement other functions (switchable lights, sliding doors etc). These scripts will be no-modify and so the style will be flagged no-modify in your inventory. You will still be able to modify the prims within the style however care should be taken not to break the additional functionality the scripts provide.
Can I use my old style with the new range bases?
Yes, unmodified styles can be used without any problems. If you have modified your style, or have created a custom build, you should be aware that some targets have different or additional active locations (where they are shown to the shooter and can be shot), you should check your style does not block these locations. Inactive locations (where the target is not visible and can not be shot) have not changed.
Can I put my range into a zero-prim rezzer/holodeck/room switcher?
The style can be placed into a rezzer if required, with the proviso that it is not rezzed with the phantom flag set. The cage around each range is intended to reduce the number of bullets escaping from the shooting area into the surrounding plot, rezzing it as phantom would defeat its purpose.
The base unit is not modifiable, must load its settings on rezz and requires the owner to put the range online after rezz and therefor is not suitable for placing in a rezzer. TalTECH will not entertain requests for modifiable or rezzer compatable base units.
Can I use the Settings Transfer Module to transfer settings and results from my version 1.x range to my version 2.0 range?
No. Version 1.x ranges are not compatible with the Settings Transfer Module. It is supplied to allow you to transfer your settings and results from one range to another if, for example, you want to move the range to another sim and to allow the transfer of settings and results to future upgrades.
Can I use my version 1.x Results Boards with the new version 2.0 ranges?
No. Version 2.0 ranges use a much more robust and flexible comms system than version 1.0 ranges and thus version 1.0 results boards cannot receive the updates from version 2.0 ranges.
None of the controllers on the range work / I can't bring up the admin menu.
Check you have rights to run scripts on the land you have rezzed the firing range on. If the land is deeded to a group and has script restrictions turned on, the range will need to be set to the same group as the land and the "Group" checkbox for "Run Scripts" on the "Options" tab of "About Land" will need to be checked.
Note ranges are non-transferable and so can not be deeded to a group.
